Duty Station: Italy, Turin

The Guest Relations unit (GUESTREL) of the ITC-ILO (the Centre) is in charge of providing information, support and care services to the Centre’s Guests hosted on its campus located in Turin, Italy.

Additionally, GUESTREL contributes to the development and maintenance of specific information projects and tools; helps monitoring and improving the quality of services offered by the Centre; organizes social and leisure time activities on campus and elsewhere; collaborates in coordinating and running of the gift shop on campus.


Functional responsibilities

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

During the internship, the incumbent will learn about organization, setting priorities and interaction with a multi-faceted public. In particular, the incumbent will:

  • Be exposed to a multi-cultural context;
  • Improve the use of foreign languages;
  • Enhance communication / public relation skills;
  • Expand creativity skills;
  • Enrich the knowledge of tourist/cultural opportunities;
  • Gain a direct experience of work and office organization;
  • Learn how to work under pressure and with ever-changing priorities;
  • Learn how to work in a team.

TERMS OF REFERENCE

As part of the Team, the incumbent will contribute to the Centre’s GUESTREL mission. In particular, the incumbent will:

  • Provide information to participants, visitors and staff of the various organizations on campus concerning the activities organized by GUESTREL, as well as on internal/external services available at the Centre (in English, French, Spanish and Italian);
  • Participate in drafting, preparing and assembling cultural/tourism and other information communication material for participants;
  • Collaborate to the running of the internal shop;
  • Contribute to the organization of cultural, sports and other leisure time activities on campus and publish related monthly and weekly bulletins (in English, French and Spanish);
  • Collaborate to updating and upgrading of the Campus life tool.

Qualifications required

Education

University degree: Still enrolled or recently completed graduate or post-graduate course.

Subjects: Tourism and hospitality management; Foreign languages and literatures; Cultural and language mediation; Public Relations and Communication; Humanities. Other curricula including an international focus may be taken into consideration.

Secondary school diploma: Still enrolled (as part of the required on-the-job training) or recently completed studies.

Subjects: Tourism and hospitality; Foreign languages and literatures; Cultural and language mediation; International commerce.

Languages

Fluency in English and Italian.

Knowledge of another working language of the ITCILO will be considered an advantage.

IT Skills

Good command of computer applications: Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet browsers.

Other Skills

Tact, enthusiasm, creativity; ability to interact with the public; sense of responsibility; interest for a multi-cultural environment; commitment to the ITC-ILO mission, vision and values; sensitivity and adaptability to cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age diversity; good knowledge of tourism and cultural sector in Turin, Italy and in the EU in general.
