Human Resources Services (HRS), Medical Service
Organizational Context
The ITCILO Medical Service provides occupational health services to staff members, participants, and other eligible beneficiaries. It supports the Centre in promoting health, safety, and well-being in the workplace, in line with ILO standards and applicable internal regulations. The Medical Service contributes to:
- Preventive and occupational health activities
- Health promotion initiatives
- Medical consultations
- Workplace health compliance and documentation
- Emergency preparedness and response
Functional responsibilities
Learning objectives:
The internship aims to provide a student or recent graduate in medicine, nursing, public health, occupational health, or a related field, with practical exposure to occupational health services in an international organizational setting.
The intern will support the Medical Service in administrative and health promotion activities while gaining hands-on experience in workplace health management.
By the end of the internship, the intern will:
- Gain practical experience in occupational health services within a multicultural environment
- Understand the regulatory and policy framework governing workplace health
- Enhance competencies in health communication and promotion
- Strengthen intercultural communication skills in a diverse workplace environment
Internship Terms of Reference:
- Under close supervision, the intern will contribute to the following:
- Assist in organizing medical appointments and follow-up
- Assist in vaccination campaigns and preventive health initiatives
- Support the development of awareness materials or information notes
- Assist in organizing health promotion activities and events
- Contribute to research and benchmarking on occupational health practices
- Contribute to updating medical service procedures
- Support the review and update of emergency preparedness and response protocols
- Assist in maintaining inventory of medical supplies (if applicable)
Qualifications required
EducationApplicants must be currently enrolled in, or have completed (recently graduated from), a university programme in Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, Occupational Health, Health Administration, or a related field in the 6 months preceding his/her application.
LanguagesFluent in English and Italian. Knowledge of French, Spanish, or other UN working languages an asset
