The Organizational Development and Project Services Programme (ODPS) takes action on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in the framework of the 2030 Agenda by providing training to promote economic, social, and environmental sustainability.

ODPS activities are designed and delivered in collaboration with the ILO, UN agencies, and other international institutions such as the World Bank, regional development banks, and universities. These include mainly on line certification programmes and in-person training activities. The programme also supports the design, implementation, and evaluation of development projects.


Functional responsibilities

Learning objectives: 

Under the supervision of the OOPS Programme Officer, the intern will learn more on the mandate and activities of the Programme, specifically:

  • Gain first-hand experience working within ITCILO as an international organization;
  • Develop knowledge of key topics in ODPS' areas of expertise;
  • Engage in business development by streamlining files and databases to help the team track and manage donor relationships, funding opportunities and strategic partnerships across ITCILO's specialized areas;
  • Acquire knowledge and understanding of funding modalities and on the policies and procedures of different donors;
  • Support the implementation of on line training programmes in the field of development cooperation;
  • Learn to use various e-learning tools for the preparation and delivery of ITCILO's distance learning courses;
  • Gain insight into the organization and logistics of large-scale training events, such as the Development Cooperation Academy (July).

Internship Terms of Reference: 

Under the supervision of the ODPS Program Officer, the incumbent will provide inputs towards developing the training activities of the OOPS Programme. More in detail, the intern will: 

  • Support in the screening of funding and partnerships' opportunities of interest to OOPS and ITCILO at large
  • Organize and streamline files and databases to support donor management and to identify business development opportunities;
  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of OOPS face-to-face events,
    including the Development Cooperation Academy (July) and the Organizational Development Academy (November);
  • Support content review, instructional redesign, and digital adaptation of the Training of Trainers programme into a new online learning solution within the
    Organisational Development portfolio.
  • Draft public information materials, including brochures and other communication documents;
  • Update and manage on line learning platforms on the eCampus under the guidance of the respective Actiivty Manager and Activity Assistant;
  • Support specific tasks from ongoing consultancy assignments and projects as deemed necessary by the respective Activity Manager.

Qualifications required

Education

Degree or Masters in one of the following subjects: International Relations, Social  Studies, Political Sciences, Development Studies, Public Administration or related fields.

Languages

Proficiency in English is essential (both written and spoken), as it is the working language. Knowledge of additional UN languages is a plus but not required. 

IT Skills

Excellent command of current Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and knowledge of e-learning tools (e.g. Zoom) is required.

•    Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
•    Strong attention to detail, especially when working with data and documentation.
•    Good communication skills (both written and verbal), with an ability to adapt to different audiences.
•    A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and contribute to various aspects of the Programme's activities.
•    Ability to work in a multicultural team and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
