The position is located in the ITCILO Programme for Employers’ Activities (ACTEMP). We responde to the needs of Employers and Business Membership Organizations (EBMOs), esspecially in the Global South- through the delivery of capacity building, development of digital tools, execution of strategic projects, and the provision of advisory services. The mission of the Programme is to help EBMOs worldwide become the representative and effective voice of business contributing to the creation of favourable conditions for sustainable development.
Functional responsibilities
Learning objectives:
A) Economics:
- Explore the use of Artificial Intelligence for policy analysis and advocacy purposes.
- Gain practical experience in policy regulatory impact assessment.
- Develop skills in tracking new labor and economic policies and their implications for companies.
- Enhance economic research communication skills in an international environment.
B) Sustainability:
- Learn about ESG frameworks, business sustainability reporting, and sustainable development policies.
- Conduct capacity building related to sustainable development for a diverse and international audience.
C) Artificial Intelligence:
- Learn about the creation and update of AI tools aimed for policy analysis and advocacy (ReguLens)
Internship Terms of Reference:
· Assist in analyzing ESG-related frameworks and their application in different countries, specifically in Africa (countries include but are not limited to: Morocco, Tunisia, Uganda, Tanzania and Mauritius)
· Contribute to research and capacity building programs related to minimum wages in different countries of the Global South.
· Assist with data collection, synthesis, and presentation on topics related to sustainable development (Just Transition, ESG, etc.).
· Participate in meetings with representatives from employers’ organizations, governments, trade unions and international organizations.
· Contribute with prompt engineering solutions for the AI tools currently being updated in the Team.
· Participate in design thinking sessions to update and improve AI tools related to policy analysis and advocacy (ReguLens)
Other task: the intern will have the chance to propose topics from our portfolio where she/he is interested in learning, such as knowledge management.
Qualifications required
EducationInterns should be enrolled in a graduate or postgraduate course, or have recently completed their graduate or postgraduate studies (maximum 6 months earlier), ideally in one of the following areas:
- Sustainability
- Economics
- Public Policy
* Other areas of studies would also be acceptable if valid reasons are presented by the candidate.
Languages
· English (mandatory)
Any additional language would be an asset
IT Skills
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
· Familiarity with data visualization tools is a plus.
· Knowledge of AI tools is an advantage.
Other Skills· Strong analytical and research skills.
· Curiosity for new topics and versatility to navigate multiple projects.
· Ability to work independently and in a team.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Sensitivity and understanding of multicultural and diversity issues
